Dear all, If I may pick your brains...

After having an emotional day, replacing 2 Tyres, Two rear Shocks, and the steering dampener, I found that the rubber bush to bolt on the Ride height sensor was broken! It;s ok, I have done a temporary fix. In fairness the suspension works great and the ride height sensors or working a treat... except the broken sensor.. Ok. I have ordered another one, and I want to fit it myself..

I note in the Haynes Manual that it says it will need recalibrating by land rover when the switch it removed! Why? Surely it is a case on unplugging the old one and bolting in the new one? Can I do that or do I really need to spend a fortune taking it in to be calibrated?

Any tips would be appreciated..

Doesn't need calibrating IF you disconnect the battery negative BEFORE touching the electrical connections of the sensors.

Coool.. Thanks!!! Do you know, as much as I hate finding faults, there is nothing better than getting all greasy and arms deep in mud fixing the disco! Oh how I look forward to every Saturday!!!!

Just an update on these sensors... I decided to give it a go.. I disconnected the battery and have to grind those buggers off. They were well and truly rusted to the retaining bracket. Thankfully I bought replacement bolts!!

If anyone else is contemplating doing this... ORDER REPLACEMENT BOLTS FROM L/R FOR THE RIDE HEIGHT SENSOR!!!!!! It will save a lot of time trying to get size 8mm bolts out which are rusted solid!!! So, Job done. Connected battery and hey presto.. no faults!!!!!

Just to check, my friend came around with a hawkeye and double checked the suspension and there was no faults or any issues! So I guess it can be done!!

Job 13 of 23598 done on the Disco!

Just had the wheels off today checking it over before French trip next month. One sensor splitting up (the other side replaced a few years back). So one of those (and bolts) and a set of rear brake pads ordered. Guess the wheels will be off next weekend too
