Hi all

I am in need of a mark 3 rf reciever as my original one is causing the dreaded battery drain. I have it disconnected at the mo and all ok with the battery!

I can get new ones but for the extortinate price of £250. Do any of you wonderful people have any idea where I can get one from without being mugged?!

Thanks

Paula:)

hi paula , the best place would be island 4x4 , I think their about £160 ... you want part no ywy500170 wich is the upgrade and has a green sticker on it if you check my old threads it will show some photos of all 3 . recievers the last one being the upgrade wich was manufactured around 2003/4 .. hope this helps , bye for now kind regards MOZZ:crazy_driver:

They are freakin expensive an not widely available. Be sure to get one from a trust worthy source, only way can tell the diffrence between em is the inner goings on.

if you can live with it, just unplug the antenna wire (blue from memory) so it wont pick up any signals unless it's right next to the box.

While it's the bodgers fix it worked for me as I couldn't justify the cost against the age of the vehicle. For the sake of holding the fob against the rear quarter window to lock and unlock. I found my money was better spent on brakes and fuel pumps or saved for the next expensive bill. Key fob was so knackered even with the wire plugged in it didnt work much past a meter away from the vehicle in any case.

*Edit, sorry didnt read that you'd already disconnected the wire....

I had to replace mine from the main stealer. Only £130-40 im sure. The first one they supplied was duff, the second still in and working fine.
Ring around main dealers for the best price

Island 4x4 no longer seem to list the RF Reciever, I contacted them a while ago asking about one and they said:

Island 4x4 said:
No stock they are on restriction. I can order them to chassis number but Land Rover charge full retail for them £202.00 plus VAT

It seems that that is the price these days.

The eBay ones can be ok, you just have to be careful. Mine £50 new in box.

I bet if someone with a good knowledge of electronics could have come up with an aftermarket replacement a few years ago they would have sold a shed load.

I just disconnected the aerial, was fine for many years. I guess you could improve range by adding a small aerial, ie a short bit of wire.

The one you want has a green sticker and inside there are 2 circuit boards at right-angles to each other rather than a single one.

Were they fitted to the later spec? I know a kid up road from me breaking a 99
Im going up later today for some bits could ask him for you! Hes cheep
