Hi all.

so I’ve been looking into the battery drain issue on the P38.

I’ve had a look at the receiver and I have the blue dot version.

I’ve unplugged the antenna and am currently recharging the battery to see if it holds abit better with it unplugged.

I’ve also had a look on eBay and found many Green dot versions. Is this the latest version and if the test is conclusive should the green version be the fix .?

all help appreciated as always

Don't take the colour of the dot as a guarantee of the receiver model, some unscrupulous seller change the dots, there is a photo of the insides of the three types available, try a search or perhaps the forum librarian @brianp38dse will repost it if your lucky.

Thanks mate. I’ve managed to find it and can now see the inside of the later model so will be sure to buy one that’s confirmed.

MartyUK makes his own filters but hasn’t been seen for some time, you could fit a jog switch which disables the rf system touch of a button or go with the green dot version

That’s a shame I sent him a message but doesn’t sound like he is around.
I’ll keep an eye out for a sensibly priced green dot

You are only likely to find a broken one or a con-job at a "reasonable" price.
Marty's RF filter unit as sold on their web-site is the Mutt's Nut's and I am so glad I have one. I can heartily recommend it. :D

I wired a remote jog switch in the wire from the receiver to the becm so any signals received cannot be passed to the becm unless the jog switch is activated.still working after many years, had to replace the battery in the jog remote a while ago, think it was five years old, may be more. So cheap off the Bay just over a fiver if memory serves.

As I mentioned I have messaged him about one but one rangerollerdt mentioned he hasn’t been about for a while.

To be fair as you say there’s not many cheap ones there all
Mostly £200 plus on eBay but I’ve found a brand new genuine one for £280. For £80 more I think I’d sooner have the new one.

He's working abroad at the moment.
That’ll be it then. Dare I say after unplugging it yesterday and only having 3 hours on the charger it’s held it overnight. Which it wouldn’t have done usually. So it’s looking promising. But will know for sure once proper battery arrives and I’ll leave it a week or so.

£280:eek: That's actually not a bad price but still a rip off for something that costs about £20 to make.
Turn off EKA and the immobiliser in the BECM, then you can just use the key and leave the receiver disconnected temporarily.

Would I need Nanocom for that datatek.?

I wouldn’t bother with any of the LR versions to be honest. They were well into making the L322 before they bothered to fix the issue. Even then at a hysterical price. Scandalous
