Yes both can be connected from N3. The small cable is the exciter cable.

What does the rear of the alternator look like?
Photo may help with my brain remembering where they go ;)

Also while you can get to the starter bolts out an earth there

So both ring terminals with 2 brown wires on each to main terminal on Starter in pic. Pic of knackered Alt waiting for better one, I have already got good thick earth from starter bolt to Chassis.

Added 6 and 7 to this pic,
Second pic is 4 and 7, going down Alternator line, one white brown the other think just white as coulors are fading.
Third pic is number 6 going down Starter line 2 green wires.

Unsure of the above I’m not guessing the missing word...:)

But is it the water temp? Think they are push on bullet type.
(Now Unsure as there are 2 cables)
