Hi All,

I've recently took ownership of a 2002 1.8 GS 3 door freelander and i've notice that on start up it revs to 1800rpm and then idles at 1100 - 1200rpm. But when i first got it, it didn't do either of these. I'am i being silly or is there something wrong with it?

Also theres an odd clunck on full lock (not all the time, but often) is there an easy way find the problem?

thanks in advance

Rich

Mine does that, mines a 2001 1.8 GS 3 door. I think it does this to warm the engine up for a bit before it gets driven, im not sure and am probably completely wrong but I dont think its an issue :-/.

I also had the clunk, is it at the back? Is it when you make a hard left turn? Basically the whole back of the left chassis had come apart from the body and had to be re-attached. If you leave it for a bit it shouldnt be a problem but in the long term it may make the other chassis connector areas weaker because theres more strain?

Sound like the centre diff rubber [thurs three ,but centre always go's first] should be about £ 45-60 = independent . . . .pull yer pants down =main stealer's :D not an easy Diy job less yer got a good ramp. . . .all three have to be undone sub frame off chassis and re aliened on putting back. . . .however LH and RH are easy :) :) :)

Many thanks for both responses. I think i'll be taking it to an old friend to see if they can find any problems.

Cheers

Rich
