who said it was easy to change ,! first couldnt undo screws holding box all turning had to grind heads off ,removed plate no problem but what a game to reach switch with hands like a gorrilla ,had to lie in the back on the floor and work blind ,two screwdrivers to remove plug, then 22 mm spanner no room and starting the new one well what a bollocks that was ,got plug back on eventually ,then had to weld nuts to back of plate for box retaining screws who said it was a quick job 3 hours still i love my landy ☘️

I have the 2.4 Puma also. I did mine from above. Lucky my cubby box and plate came out ok. The reversing switch was ‘reasonably’ accessible with a spanner. It did still take a good two hours. Why do the switches fail though?

Changed my reverse light switch a couple of years ago (puma), was a doddle and only took about half an hour from start to finish. Didn't use a spanner, used a long socket. Gear stick off (about 5 seconds as it just unclips), carpet up, remove floor over the gear stick area and ease it out of place (don't need to remove the hand brake as there is enough wiggle room). Access to the switch was not difficult at all.

Info for next time you need to do it ----. I found it was not necessary to touch the handbrake lever as there is enough wiggle room to move the floor plate over the gear box just enough to do the job.

mine 2.4 puma no chance from underneath

There's your problem, you have chosen a new one with all sorts of extra complicated bits like more gears than are necessary

I did mine from underneath, didn't remove anything lt77 box

If you have a proper one like flossie and I (although still more gears than are necessary, just look at a series) it is a very simple job with all the room you need!
