Hello all , my reverse light hasn’t been working for some time and I’m just getting around to putting a new switch on the gearbox however it’s a pain to get out I’ve tried modifying spanner’s but still can’t get it out what is the best way to access it

I'm probably not the best person to advise on this because the last time I changed mine the transmission tunnel was off and it was nice and easy. One thing I remember from the experience was that the cheap ones are crap. The button that goes inside the gearbox didn't stick out far enough so I ground away some of the hex on the end so it would go in further. It stopped working entirely in due course so I got a more expensive item which is still in there to this day.

Be aware there are two different types of switch. One protrudes more than the other. They have different part numbers but sorry I can't help with them, but I believe this is why some work and some don't.

Did two recently found easier to crack of from underneath then remove from inside when cubbybox removed...neither were faulty when I checked with multimeter a squirt of lube and push the ball bearing in and out...also made up fly leads and bypassed switch to make sure it wasnt a wiring problem...
