Hi again, been away for a while!

So I lent my s3 to my brother and it came back with the exhaust split in 2 and the bracket off!
Also the spring when you push the gear lever to the left to select reverse is gone.
All gears are working fine.

Is the spring just sticking and needs grease? If so where?
Or is it a bigger job?

Possibly the spring has snapped, mine had 2 fitted and both had snapped. Easy job though, take gearbox cover off and can get in

Hinged plate held by two springs and adjusted by 1/4 bolt angle of plate decides amount of resistance going to reverse position HTSH

Sounds like your brother had a whole lot of fun off roading in it with his mates somewhere

When I bought a series floorpan off a guy recently he threw in such a spring, he said they had a tendancy to break.

i swapped my broken spring for one off a folding deckchair :behindsofa:



watch the rivvet counters chew on my arse for that one :mooning:

thanks lads, springs were ok, the plate that bolts on had snapped, gave a neighbour a fiver to weld it for me, back on the road!
