Auf_weidershen_pet you have done a cracking job there. Where did you get the raised dash din / dash unit from?

Thanks. It's just a cheap screen linked to the camera.

Hi there to you all.
Can anyone give me any advice.
on the best type of camera to buy and install on a 2004 td5.
i know there are a lot of expensive cameras out there and also a lot of cheep ones as well I have seen the one that brookwells are selling for £158.33 do you think this is the price I would expect to pay ? Any help would be good.
Thanks martin

The type of camera and how much it might cost will depend largely upon what you intend to use it for.
If it's for regular good quality uploads to "the tube" then something like a "Go-Pro" would probably work quite well.
If all you're looking for is a forward facing "dash-cam" then 160 quid is a bit over the top if you ask me.
I've recently installed a forward facing camera mounted in the rear view mirror with a rear facing reversing camera for a little under forty quid. It might not be to everybody's taste, but it suits me and does what it says on the box.
The one I chose has the forward lens on the right hand side of the mounting, so it's designed for RHD vehicles, it uses a micro-SD card (cat 10) for recording and since it's built into the rear view mirror, it has a built-in 4.3 inch monitor there's nothing fixed to the windscreen to obscure the driver's view.

Thanks Tillytomp, I mounted mine in the rear window but I'm disappointed with the view as the spare wheel is in the way and i was impressed with your view. I think they are a great asset as you proved with your small person shot.

I wanted to mount it higher up, for the missus to see the tow hitch for lining up the trailer, but couldn't find a suitable position, so just put it there and I think it works quite well
