Hi all,
Just a quick hello as this is my first post.
I've recently bought a reverse camera for my Td5 which was fitted today so I can try to offer some advice if it's required to the fitting of it.
I chose the wired (hard wired) version as I understand the wireless / bluetooth sometimes give interference.
From rear to front I decided to fit the camera above the 3rd brake light - within the boot space as it will stay dry, secure and with the stroke of the rear wiper.
I connected the power source for camera to the right hand brake light (negative and #4 (green / brown as live)). I used scotch connectors for this.
From here the cable came through behind the light fitting to the small (vent like) cubby hole right hand just inside of rear door. The power and video cable were passed through inside of door and through door card to 3rd brake light through the flexible hosing.
The video lead has been concealed under the carpet and seats under centre console and out under gaiter of hi / lo gear stick.
The supply for the monitor was taken from cigarette lighter supply which required removal of centre console. You will find there are 3 connections, one red lead at the top and the other two connected together, one green and one black. The central connection to cigarette lighter is positive (mine had a green wire and black - or casing connection is negative). I popped these out of the terminal holders and soldered my connections.
This sorted the monitor. This was then fitted infront of the hi / lo gear stick.
Then last thing to do, connect video leads start ignition, stick in reverse and jobs a goodun! Hope this helps someone!
