I have fitted a rev counter to my 3.9 v8 I and it shows 3000 revs all the time ? Any ideas

What rev counter? Aftermarket - have you set it to 8 cylinders...... Silly question I know, but have to ask

and dubble check how you have wired it

3 wires one to w on alt, one to power + 12 v and neg
That's it
It stays at 3000 reves all time

should have 1 to 12V feed, 1 to earth and 1 to -ve side of coil
