Driving a 2003 td5 auto,

was doing this before an oil change in the box (without filter change).

occasionally when hot (ie i have driven it, and then popped into the petrol station to remortgage my house and pay for fuel) i will get back in, start it up and go to pull away and it will limit the revs to approximately 1500rpm before allowing full power and pulling normally.

It only does this once, for about 30 seconds max, and then on the drive wont do it again at all, regardless of whether the box is left in drive when coming to a stop or put in park.

it doesn't do it all the time, and doesn't do it from cold. the oil level is correct and the oil is fresh, the drive is strong all other times. there are no M+S flashy lights, and it is smooth as silk changing now between gears in all situations up and down.

any of you point me in the direction of this issue?

I would be inclined in the first instance to find someone local to you to plug it in with Nanocom or Hawkeye and get the faults read after a "clear and drive", to discount old faults. Get live data recorded as well, and check the sensor readings at different revs including when it won't rev beyond 1500, before embarking on a wild goose chase....

Probably the first thing to check whenever a Td5 engine starts producing some odd behaviour for no apparent reason is for traces of oil in the red plug on the engine ECU.
If there is any oil there you'll need to clean it out and replace the injector harness. cleaning can take a few days of waiting for the residue to drain out of the plug.

that was the first thing i checked, no oil at all, hence its pickling me..

it only does it once if it does it and then is fine.. never when cold,
