Old fluid makes a great paint stripper by the way lol

I had to take a car back to bare metal years ago. Emptied a can of brake fluid (that I had used the previous year for topping up) onto the bonnet.
Hardly touched it and the paint was only cellulose - but about 20 years old. Complete waste of time... Spent a fortune on Nitromors.

Stripped the paint off the landrover where i spilt it and didn’t wipe it up :/

sometimes I have run a pipe from the bleed nipple to the reservoir - bleeding through an empty system - to reduce wastage, easier with a clutch or front nipples due to proximity.

Never reuse old fluid, its hygroscopic for a start..

old fluid will corrode brake lines, ruin calipers etc etc not worth it..

Would you reuse old engine oil??

same train of thought!!!! ;)

5 litres of Pagid dot 4 is £20 which is a bargain imo, i always crank the cap on to make sure not moisture makes it in.. ;)

Personally, I don't see any issue with collecting clean/fresh oil from the bleed process and using it to top up the reservoir
