Hi everyone,

I have a disco 2 with half leather half alcantara beige interior, is it possible to heat these seats via a retrofit? Are the seats already wired for heating? Is it a matter of wiring a switch in?

Having seen elsewhere on the web that leather seats already have the wiring in just no switch for the heating to work, is this true for half leather seats?

Any advice or help will great fully recieved.

Jonny

Was just curious as a video I have seen was for a US discovery 2 but it states that full leather seats have the heating elements in but no switch was installed unless chosen as a factory option, am wondering with my half leather interior does the same apply?

You can get them on eBay, if you put your location their might be someone near you who has one, You could go to a dealer but I'm not sure what that would set you back.

I,ve just done this to my seats !.

My seats are manualy adjusted, so all I needed was the 4 heater elements and the 2 switches.

My car already had the wiring in place.

You need to look for a brown connector under the seats. If you have this then the switch connectors will be in the centre consol.

If you have a wire with the corresponding male brown connector hanging out of the seat bottom, then the heater pads are already installed.

If not you need to take out the seat and strip back the cover by cutting the metal hog rings and attach your seat elements.

Once you have done this, the seats can be refitted.

The brown plug on my car is formatted for power seats, so I had to change the pins over in the connector that comes from the heater pads. Once this was done, its just a case of getting a couple of seat switches and a new switch fascia, and plugging them all in. There is no need to activate it with a computer.

The genuine D2 seat heater switches are very expensive, so I bought a couple of Defender ones for £5.00 each, and modified the switch carrier and face plate.
The switches are Ash grey, and my fascia is black, but that didnt bother me.

I have to say, that its the BEST mod I,ve done to mt car yet !!.

If you have electric seats, the heater elements are different, and the temperature is conrtolled by a modude under the seat.

Cheers.

Wow wow 50 pence thank you, this has got me feeling much more positive about it. I can get the switchs and fascia from the US but they are £110 or so. My disco has half leather manual adjust, but aslong as there Is that brown connector it's game on then?

You can buy two switches and a fascia of ebay NOW for £40.00 !.

The elements for the seats are £30.00 each x4 =£120.00 and hav thier own thermostat in them.

If I can help further just let me know.

Cheers.

Well I had a look at my seats and there is no brown plug at either end and that's a Disco Landmark did yours have them ?

Mine had the brown plug coming out of the carpet under each seat, but I had to fit the elements to the seats.

To be sure if you have the wiring in the car you need to remove the switch panel in the centre consul and see if you have the two connectors for

I have found a brown connector behind the multichanger at the back will take a pic so everyone can see. Will also check in the centre console for switches.
