Still looking for a landy, see one thats "prepped for respray" how much would a respray actually cost, or would you just paint it by hand?

paint it by hand is the answer - use a roller for a good result ( i found a radiator roller better for the roof ) , and do 1 panel at a time

Paint I used was a general purpose metal gloss from Wick's (approx £5 ) and it seems to be ok ( though you are restricted in the colour choice )

here's a pic of mine half painted

its a shed - but at least its now a shiny shed

I was thinking about doing my landy.
Argonaut do you recommend taking the bits to be painted off first?

Hi, Landrover owners international magazine , this month, has a very good insight on all options available.

I am looking at painting my Landy but havent got the bottle to start it incase it turns out a bigger mess than it is already.

personal choice - i didn't - but then again all i wanted was to make it look more presentable from a distance , not concourse !!

if you are painting it the same original colour then the fact that you miss fiddly bits isn't so important - they won't show up toooooooooo badly

Once i have assembled all the panels i need , and swapped my engine, i am planning on stripping it back and having a proper job done ,because for a 35 year old it's not in bad shape underneath and should be worth taking some time over

in the meantime its my everyday hack and neighbours were complaining about the white / red lead/grey primer/rust colour scheme
