Hi everyone,
I plugged in a OBDII into my 1995, RR p38, automatic, 2.5DSE. Then I start it. However, the OBDII did not work. After that I remove the OBDII and tried to start the car but all error message came up i.e. gearbox, SRS, airbag, ABS etc. and I cannot start it. Shall I reset the BeCM? Many thanks.

Maybe coz it isn't OBDII compliant?

OBDII readers will not work on diesel P38s. You need Nanocom which will do all you need to do on this model. You may have scrambled the EMS code in the BECM that needs to be copied and written to the BECM from the engine ECU. If the engine will turn but not start this is what you have done. If you are getting engine disabled message and engine will not turn over. EKA code will need to be entered and accepted before engine will start. Make sure the battery is fully charged.

I disconnected the battery for two days. Then it sounded the alarm. All faulty message gone when I put my key in the ignition plug. However, the key cannot synchronize. Thus the engine disengaged. :( I tried the method as depicted in the handbook and workshop manual but in vain. Anyone can help.

If the key is out of sync and the engine disabled the only way of getting it going is to enter the EKA code and have it accepted. The key cannot be synced until EKA is accepted. Or if you know someone with a Nanocom you can disable the need for the EKA code and disable the immobilisor the car will start.

When the alarm was sounding, I turned it off by putting my key into the door lock and unlocking the door. When the alarm was off, i put my key into the ignition plug and switched to II ( or just put in without switch) for a minute or so. Then I withdraw the key and pressed unlock button of FOB and then lock button. It works pretty well. Everything is OK now. I did not input any EKA. ;):) I got my car back and I synchronised another key also. In the past, I can synchronised it by pressing unlocking button of FOB and put it into the door lock and turned to unlock position. Anyway, thank you for you all in sharing with your valuable experience with me.
