anyone know what the black resavoir is for i know which ones are for the brakes, power steering, coolant, washers this one in in the middle below the window and is full with one pipe coming off

if you asked in the freelander section youd have a chance of an informed answere....

id guess at clutch

Ignore the people not taking this seriously, its the quantum transfuctioning fluid for the flux capacitor, needs topping up every few thousand light jumps....

its definitely the muffler bearing lube tank. fill it with any flammable liquid, petrol works well. dont forget to prime it with a lit match before replacing the lid.

Nah, it's the driveway marker. Modern engines are oiltight from new so Landrover fitted a reservoir with a pipe to dribble oil down the back of the engine block. Refill with old, dirty engine oil and you'll be able to experience that real "I've parked there before" satisfaction.
Do freelanders have a hydraulic clutch, perhaps?
