Hi Everyone. Cannot find any recent threads so I ask here. Can anybody refer me to a good outfit that can repair dead nnn5000020 ECU's.
I tracked down this e-mail address on the web: 'Hemerdonlodge@aol.com' and they look like they know what's what but it is difficult to judge from sitting here in South Africa.
Any help will be appreciated. I now sit with 2 dead ECU's so I though might as well have them repaired if possible. Looks to me like they may have damaged processors. None of the FETS are dead and no obvious signs of damage. But both fail to communicate to my Nanocom and the "engine" light just stays off permanently. Engine just turns over but nothing happens. Put in spare ECU and all is well.
Now it is difficult to remember, because the first ECU died years ago soon after a service was done. I think I remember smelling something "electric" at the time. Never found out what the cause was. The ECU was replaced and it went fine for the next 5 years or so. Then I recently had the transfer box pulled out and when I got the car back, I experienced the same "electric smell" a day or so later. Pulled over and discovered they fitted the incorrect bolt to the earthing strap on the transfer box. I fixed that and the smell went away. A week later I was driving along merrily some 200 miles from home when the car just died. Checked checked checked...eventually swap ECU for my spare, used the Nanocom to sort out security etc and off I went. Now I need my spare ECU replaced or repaired. Wonder if that earthing problem caused all of this?
