Yea buy the proper spanner there about £12ish halfrauds sell them if you can get a spare pair of hands it even easyer don't forget to put a long thin bar in to hold the pulley behind fan in place and it an anticlockwise thread so you do it up to undo it if that makes sense

You might want to think about putting a piece of cardboard between the fan and rad, that way you are less likely to put a hole in the rad when you drop the fan off its threads.
