How easy is it to do this, think mine has just failed?
if you look at the top of this page, you will see the how-to guide, look at hippos vcu bearing replacement guide, exactly what you need to know:)
( 'coz you have to remove the vcu)

Very very rare that Thay fail Thay get tighter and tighter over time
What makes you think it's failed

Just removed my complete prop and vcu. Then separated props from vcu in anticipation of my new one from bell engineering. Took about 30 mins! But I'm a mechanic:) still did it on the floor tho! Aim to be fixed for show this weekend even if I have to fit the ****in thing in the campsite!:D

Don't know what year your F1 is but the VCU Bell supplied me was fitted with the long splined shaft from the earlier model which meant that the horse shoe clamps tightened onto the shaft and not onto the yokes, Bell advised me to grind about 1/8th inch off either end of the shaft. I also stripped the CV joint down and repacked with graphite grease at the same time as the grease had thinned down to oil.

I'm taking it with me to swap so hopefully that won't be an issue! Just investigating my rear cvs as ones knocking. Discovered that the inner joints can't cope with a 2" lift on full droop! **** and damnation! May as well do the prop cv while it's off:)

Looks like a big elastic band :). As far as I know the V6 doesn't even have a damper fitted so should be OK to leave off.

Now that's what I call planned maintenance:)

Fwd mode surprising how well it goes! 225/75/16 mud terrain wheel spin is a bit strange:D

Also how bad it handles! Terminal under steer on wet roads! Plus wheel spin even with my mahoosive tyres. Not sure it's a great thing to do! Hopefully I'll survive to the weekend:) driving miss daisy:D
