I’m planning on doing my head lining in the next few weeks as it’s sagging

V8 Discovery 2a HSE with two sunroofs

I’m gonna also add cheap AliExpress sound deadening to the roof to help with wind noise and potentially the Australian sun

What else should I replace when I’ve got it off?

A) Visually inspect sunroof drains, or replace any plastics?

B) Sunroof hosing? Order new or just inspect?

C) Any motors?

D) Wiring?

E) Add any cool mods you recommend?

F) Anything else?

Thank you!

I kind of have to plan in advance because any parts I’ll need have to be shipped from the US or UK

Are you replacing the sagging material?
Or like me, ripping it out, cleaning and then painting it?

As for accessories! I just checked all the bits and pieces and replaced with new if needed! If you start adding? You will need to remove headliner again to sort out the possible problem??

Drain tubes should be fine although the plastic corner connectors are prone to snapping off. Once replaced the tube which hangs free from the factory should be stuck to the roof to stop the weight of the free hanging tubes from snapping the corner connectors off again.

I bought 4 metal corner connectors to fit to mine.

I have a similar job, along with a small leak to find, and to repair the sunroof controller

Check Alpine Windows and roof rail mounts for leaks as well. If you’re fitting insulation, use high temperature adhesive or it will just fall off. Having said that, even that might not last in your heat !!!

I did this job back in the summer using the martrim kit. I didnt replace the sunroof drains (the little plastic boxes) as mine weren't damaged at all. It's worth cutting the hose rather than try and pull it off, there is enough spare length to push them back on when refitting. Most leaks are from the sunroof frame to roof join, its a feeble gasket. I removed both completely, cleaned up and stuck them down with tigerseal. Also used tigerseal to refit the drain boxes to the frame as the original sealer had dried out. I fitted new seals while I was there as I didnt want to revisit this job, new ones are a tight fit to close at first, I needed a helper to push down on it while closing (manual roof) as I didnt want to stress the mechanism. A couple of months later they close easily once settled in. I left it a couple of weeks before putting the headlining back in to check for leaks as I didnt touch the roof bars, but all was fine.
Only thing I would do differently next time is try a different fabric, I found the martim stuff difficult to get smooth, it has a few wrinkles but not too bad that it bothers me now. I see people talk about this 4 way stretch stuff so that would be my next one to use (but hopefully not on this one!) There is a good guide on here somewhere for removing the headlining which helped me not break anything, some of the plastics are quite delicate

Ive got mine to do as well. I have new drain corners to fit, Im going to remove and reseal the sunroof frames, and fit new seals. I just need to get the material and glue, and I have everything I need. Edit that, I just bought the material kit from Martrim.

Just need to apply a good coat of looking at, to the task.
