Hi there,

Last weekend I had a mate come round and pressure test my engine, found head gasket was totally ruined.

So took head off, looks ok but as engine has got 258,000iles on it decided best bet is to sort out head, so ordered a re-skimmed rebuilt head and valves and it turned up this morning.

Only question is..... Which head gasket, I know it's relevant to the 'holes placed on the gasket'. I found 3 small holes but I'm not sure which holes I'm looking at and can't find anywhere that identifies if I'm looking at the right holes.... Also as it's a different re-skimmed head does that mean I need a different head gasket?

Regards,
Nick

if the head has been refurbished correctly then you need to stick with the same number of holes as before. The holes / thickness is determined by piston protrusion above the block rather than the head

Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it, iv ordered a 1.5mm (3 hole) head gasket and de-coke kit, gonna clean out then port and polish the manifold while I'm doing it
