hi all.

My front diff has started to knock or slap through front prop and into the gear box when slowing down. What is involved to replace the front diff.

Cheers

Drain diff oil
Wheels off
Calipers off
Drive flanges off
Hubs off
Stub axles off
Pull half-shafts
Prop off
Un-bolt diff
Pull out diff (fookin heavy)

Re-fitting is the reverse.
Might as well check CV joints, wheel bearings etc and replace swivel / hub seals while yer at it.

Not a job i can do one night after work.

How much do you all think it would cost for some one to do replace it

Last time I did mine, I took the t/rods off then undid the ring of bolts holding the swivel on, pulled the lot out about 6ins.

that's an alternative, if you can get the bolts out!

I would properly establish that the diff is the problem before doing the above. Start by checking the propshaft, drive flanges, etc.

i aggree..
if it was the rear then thats a piece of ****s to change/look at

the front is more labour intensive.and would be a fooker if ya got it all apart and then found it wasnt the diff but just a uj:doh:

Sorry to dig up an old thread but looking to do this and wondered if anyone has any pictures that would help me out. Looking to do this the short way and unbolt the whole hub/cv assembly rather than stripping it piece by piece as suggested by Trewey above.
