I'm changing Blend motors (well temp one at least on drivers side). I have a few question below if you'll be patient with me!!!

I bought a set of 3 new blend motors off Ebay (sorry if I outbid anybody!) and I am following the procedure here Blend Motor Diagnosis and Replacement as recommended.

Don't actually have the blend motors yet but have started to dismantle. Have got the centre console side covers and the lower front cover off to have a look around. Have drilled through to remove the second screw that hold the rear distribution duct, so Duct is now free-ish. Have removed cowel from instrument panel (not panel yet, waiting for servo units). Once the instrument panel is out, I am not clear what I do once I have I opened the joint between the outer and inner duct.
Does the Duct to the rear come away then?
Or, as it seems, is it still joined and I have to bend it away?
Do I bend the free end towards the side of the car to allow access to the Blend Motor retaining screws?
(I haven't freed the lower end where i goes inside another duct yet, is that easy enough?)
Where is the connector that the blend motors plug into?
Finally, if you aint fed up yet(!) a separate question - none of the switches around the HEVAC unit light up when they are pressed on (Air Con, Circulation HRwindow, heated seats, distribution flaps etc) although they all seem to work (apart from seats but thats another story). Any ideas why they don't light up when I press 'em?

Not sure about procedure to change the blends but plenty guys here I am sure will help....re the HEVAC lights though: the bulbs may be shot and can be changed once you slide the unit out - it is easy to remove while you are busy with the blends. On the other hand, the HEVAC itself can potentially be faulty although this is less likely as you say the switches work. The heated seats, like you say, are another problem altogether and generally stop working even though the switch lights up, if you do a search on here, you will find a procedure to change the heating elements but it does mean pulling the seats to bits which is no problem, but putting them back together as well as a trimmer would is a different story!!!.

The easiest way to get the duct out is to cut through it via the hole left by removing the speedo binacle. I found a drywall pad saw to be the best for this. Be carefull not to catch the heater matrix pipes, they are aluminium and easy to cut Once you have cut through pull out rewards towards the back of the car. It can be a bit awkward but the duct is very tough so you can give it plenty.

When you come to re-assemble some well placed duct tape will ensure all is good again.

take the front of the console off( you will have to remove the centre side panels for this.) once removed take out the hevac completely! you can get to see the cables and thier route.

i took out the binnacle and managed to get the two motors out that side without too much difficulty, you will however have to carefully position the sterring wheel!!

the other side had a hole hacked out of the plastic for me, you can just cut some of it away to get in there, it will all be covered by glove box, the ducting has a slidey bit to allow the two sections to part, just rotate the bottom one till you can get in to the screws. its not easy but certainly not hard. no need to cut the ducting at all!!

Thanks to Gav, for taking the time to answer my queries (especially as you have obviously been busy with new 'van!) It's all really helpful and gives me the confidence to do a job that I just wouldn't have tackled without the help from this forum. I will be completing it (I hope!) on Wednesday when I receive Blend Motors.

One way or another you gents have saved me a cool £500. Cheers!

just take yer time and think before you cut anything, maybe use a hole saw to make a neater job of any access holes, careful not to slip with it tho!!!

should only take a few hours!
