Hi,
I have a series 11a with a 3.5 V8 fitted. Was wondering if it is possible
to replace the axles with Range Rover Classic axles so as to have stronger diffs.
difs aren't stronger, its the halfshafts that snap normally on series axles, RR axles are coilsprung and wider than leaf sprung series ones, but nothing stopping you weld on spring platforms to RR axles
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of keeping it leaf sprung with parabolic springs, don't know if it would work or not? just not sure if shocks and things would line up and steering linkages.
How would I loose the tax free benifit by changing axles?
Just thought it might be easier than trying to fit coil springs. The half shafts and diffs are blown, on the 2a axle, resulting in a hole in the diff casing. I have got 2 RR diffs plus a complete front and rear axle so was just looking at different options. Open to ideas
only way to stop popping half shafts &diff's is to fit the rrc 4 speed box (bullet proof and full time 4x4) i had a v8 2a i did my self only trouble i ever had was the same till someone said about the change of box
