Morning All,

Before you say search the forum I have had a good look.

I have no suction at all on from the brake vacuum pump so want to replace it...never done it before so how hard can it be??

Thanks in advance

reasonably easy ,you need 10mm socket and spanner to undo 6 x bolts ,tighten up evenly ,turning engine over till cams lobes are up/down makesd it easier to refit

Thanks for the response....I'm a complete novice soo...

'turning engine over till cams lobes are up/down makes it easier to refit' how?

The pump works on the cam lobes like a valve opens by the cam lobe.

If the lobe is on its high point when refitting then holding the unit, trying to get the bolts back in will be a bit more awkward.

Turn engine by hand till the lobe is down and fitting will be easier.

:)

Having had a look, it looks like a new part but only secured by the top two bolts. Would this make a difference?

Lots of oil underneath the pump as well.

If its not secured properly then oil will **** out and the lobe will not make contact with the cam, therefore not making any vacuum

Sounds like bolts have come loose and fell out.

If you get replacements, don't forget a gasket and locktight the bolts in.

Did you get a replacement pump?

Managed to just about sort everything when....

Found the TDC marker on the block and the pulley and had them lined up
Removed two of the remaining bolts, came to take the last one out and the head is knackered so can't undo it
So to the garage it is....quite frustrating

Well given me a little more confidence to get stuck in.

if you can get to the bolt head with a flat headed punch ,hit it it will come loose through the shock plus socket will be tighter fit as head mushrooms socket may need hammering on
