Thank you lovely people for all previous good advice and free banter - I gather from what I have read that I should avoid Britpart in my search for window regulators but where should I go and what make should I be looking for - hoping to avoid original parts/costs so whats the lowdown on who to buy from? Done the whole cable thing but was a disaster:eek:

buy from a scrapyard and make sure to use plenty of lithium grease on cables and runners when fitting . Then grease up the rest of the window regulators to make sure they not dry . Have tried the repair kits myself and near imposible to get even pressure on cables when refitting . Bought my tailgate regulator for 50 notes and a straight swap for broken part without the headache . Hope this helps

I would avoid ones from a scrapyard unless you can get a regulator from a late low miles car otherwise you could buy a replacement, fit it then it buggers up after a week :(

buy the compleat kit I brought just the repair kit and struggled with them and got them on but did not run right so brought the full kit much better that reminds me must redo the wifes now

I bought one from my local car parts shope, about the same price as ebay.

The only thing was that the plug connecter was wrong. It came with a bare end to female connector adaptor, i scotch locked it to the loom in the door as i didnt want to cut the end of the cable in the car.

When you change the regular, use lots of gaffer tape other the top of the door to hold the glasd up and out of the way.

Make sure that you trun off the curtesy lights, pull the fuse, discaonnect the battery, cos sitting with the door open for a couple of hours will flatten the battery (I speak from experience).

Hope that helps
