Hi all,

Was hoping you could help with a stereo question. I have just bought a 1992 Disco and am looking to upgrade the stereo as it's like listening to a commuter on the tube with headphones....... The current head unit is easy to take out as it's located in front of the gear lever. I assume it's too big for the space as it sits about 1" above the cradle. Anyone got any suggestions on a suitable replacement that would fit correctly or where to re-house a stereo. I am also looking to fit a CB at some point which would probably fit in the current stereo position easily...

I changed the head unit on mine a while ago too. Mine's a 1990 so it has the head unit in front of the gear levers as well. It was a tight fit but it fits into the hole nicely. If it helps, the new one is some Pioneer model.
I think they sell some kind of spacers if your head unit is too big depth-wise. Or you could just make one yourself.

A lot of modern head units area bit shorter in depth, so remove the existing unit measure it and then look as the spec on the www of the new unit u fancy and you will then know if it will fit.

I had a costum made Spacer made from black PVC. Easy thing and if you have the possibility to polish it on a machine then you will get a close to factory look.
