Going to pull the gearbox off my 300 defender, just wondering whats worth replacing while I've got it off. I'll do the clutch, crank oil seal and g/box mounts but is there anything else you'd recomend?

Reinforcement where the push rod bears.
You can just weld a bit of plate over what you've got if you have a welder.

Spigot bush in the end of the crank, also replace the plastic clip that holds the slave cylinder pushrod in place (can also use a tywrap for double security).
Could also check the UJ's while the props are off and the transfer box drive flange seals.

My new clutch kit came with a replacement pushrod clip, don't know if that's usual though.

I'll be doing it at work where we have 2 overhead cranes and a forklift. I've been researching gearbox swaps and starting to wonder if removing the engine is the way to go, mainly because I have the facilities to do so and with the box being so heavy it seems daft to struggle underneath the vehicle. I know it can be done without taking the engine out, but chances are I'll be doing it by myself. Whats people opinions?
