Hi,

I read on here a while ago about replacement MAF sensors from Germany that only cost £80 as opposed to th £300 from the stealers.

Has any one bought one of these? Was it any good? Where can i get one?

Thanks

Dave

Are you talking about the Pierburgh maf ? . . . .if so its not a direct replacment but works very well with a rover Rons synergy 2 . . . . .

Hi Ming,

The one that I read about was a direct replacement.

I would consider a synergy once it runs right, i been waiting 3 years now......

Thanks

yeah 3 years an no one, not even the dealers can find an issue.

TD4 auto, going up hill the damn thing labours like hell until it kicks down. It don't do it sports mode as it like lower gears more.

Lumpy running 1500 - 2000 rpm, but not all the time. Most noticable when its cold and just revving it whilst parked and in neutral.

Just got it back from garage, no theres not power at the bottom end, until the turbo kicks in (scarey at junction when you press the power an the car dont move for about 5 seconds) lumpy running is worse.

aaaarrrrgghhhhh....the english parts of the car are fine, this german engine is annoying....

There was talk on here and many other forums about a direct replacement pierburg maf, thought it was good news but it seems Ron has tested one and concluded it isn't a suitable replacement for Td4s.

Bugger, £300 is a bit excessive, in my opinion......

Is there not an equivelent, and cheaper, BMW part?

I don't think you'll find anything suitable for under £250 or so.

For God's sake don't buy a new MAF from a LandRover dealer.

Ron can supply you a Synergy and a Pierburg MAF for only a little more than that, I think.

Hi all,

I have not looked at the MAF over the weekend as I do not have a deep reach socket to get the engine cover off. d'oh.

I did however work out why this has suddenly become an issue, the guys at the garage changed the tyres to try to diagnose a bearing noise. The part warns that they have put on are 50mm bigger in diameter than the ones that were on. It now take more effort to move the car and hence the MAF issue is more apparent.

Also the brakes are not as good as they were, for the same reason.

After a trip to essex at the weekend, the pausing issue has got a bit better, but it is still there.

Will keep you all updated, but I'm looking at getting a Synergy 2a with the ECO button. Might save some diesel!!!

Cheers

Dave
