My key2 is broken. I've had it apart and its the circuit board as if I bend it, I can very occasionally get it to work. Tried touching the solder with an iron to fix any dry joints, but the SMD's are tiny and one of the buttons has also fallen apart.

Anyway, if I get a replacement, I guess I'd need a key3 or a key4. So how would that work with the memory seats that only have 2 positions? Will it not make any difference? Does it not care which key is programmed to which button on the seat base?

Does any electronics expert want to fix it for me for suitable payment? :)

tnx

Nik

Only key 1 and key 2 will operate the memory seats when unlocking. The other keys won't move the memory seats to the position when unlocking.

I take it you already have a Key 1, if so & you are sure your Key 2 is unrepairable then just get another Key 2 to replace the one thats fooked.
No idea about the Memory seats, but it's no biggy to re-set them again.
HTH.;)

I agree. Get another key 2. You're old one will stop working, but you could keep it as a spare. The electrics won't work, but the key blade might be useful as a manual override in cases of emergency. Gaffa tape it behind the bumper and you'll have a means of entry if you ever loose your key when you're out.

I have keys 3 and 4 for mine. They work fine, but don't activate the seat memory when unlocking.

Well why do people say that if you have a lost a key, you need to get a key3 or a key4 to be safe? Why not buy a key1 or key2 or whichever one they have lost? Or is that only the case when they are missing the stickers and don't know which one they've lost?

Exactly.

There can only ever be one key 1 and one key 2 for any BECM. When they program your new key 2 to the BECM it will overwrite the old key 2 info so it will never work again.

Yours is broken anyway so it doesn't matter.

New keys have to come from the dealer, they'll be able to explain your options.

A key 3 or 4 is suggested when the poster does no know which working key he/she has.
If the numbers are known, you replace the number that is broken.
If you want to post your dead key to me I'll see if I can fix it:)
