The rear cross member has gone on my 2a lightweight. ripped off by a lead footed TD5 owner when I got stuck out last time on the lanes. I admit the x member was rotten  so had it coming I guess.

Picked up a new 1/4 chassis recently but ringing around a few places I cannot find anyone willing to take the work on  chassis specialist is too old  local garage are busy with MOT's

So can anyone recommend anyone in Bristol or close to North Bristol or alternatively help me replace it myself (I cannot weld) I can wield a spanner and I come complete with a tea fairy although space at mine will likely be limited to outside.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Cheers Leafers,

G

I couldnt weld either......but I learnt......you could always borrow a Pikey for a day or two

If you're struggling, try a few local metal works /welding type places, if they are short on work they may be happy to do it if you'll strip it back for them.

You'll also find they will do a much much better job than most garages

do it yourself.
you will grow from the challenge, and once you have bought a 150 amp mig welder, you will always have one.
welding is fun, if painful!

I had the same problem. Local metal welder offer to do it for approx £300. I invested in a Stick welder, practised on some old metal until I had good results and did the job myself. Passed the MOT and 2 years later still OK. You can watch good training videos on youtube and get the basic gist. Terry
