Hi all,

Anybody out there with experience changing the door handles on a Disco 1 200Tdi?

I have inherited my Disco after my Dad passed away and am slowly tarting it up. you know what its like sensible thing would probably be to scrap it and start again but any Landie tends to get in to the blood a little and we went everywhere in it and it was my Dad's so it would be nice to sort it out.

God I'm when did I turn sentimental!

Just thought I would ask before I strip the door cards off and start playing only to find there is an easier way!

nope, door cards will have to come off and its a fiddly arkward job

Yeah door cards are set to come of over the B/H, if nothing else crops up!

Should be fun in itself, don't think they have been off since new, still if I find an easy way I will let you know. Can't keep climbing in over the passengers seat!

Might be stating the blindingley obvious here but..........

When you change the door handles and adjust the rod to make sure everything opens fine....

which I did.....

don't put the whole door back together, close the door then while the door is closed think I know I will try the key in the lock....

You may find out like me that the door locks fine....

BUT will not unlock!:doh:

Trying to take the door card off from the inside while the door is closed is not as much fun as it sounds..........:censored:

Don't think I'm far off the passenger seat access myself - there's a definite knack to opening the door!!

Incidentally the handles are the same ones as my first car (a 76 Morris Marina) had - parts bin engineering

Yeah, my brothers first car was a Marina and I noticed they were the same.

Best thing about the old Marina's was the way one key seamed to fit all cars....

At the time there were three Marinas in our street and one chap locked himself out of his car. My brother opened the door with his key and then for fun opened the other neighbors as well!
