I've stupidly broken off the end off this vent.
I can't see why it's necessary as there's the the larger vent and a breather in the tank.
Anyway, any advice on the best method to repair, I've got tubes of seam sealer which seems to stick to anything, I think it's polyurethane based?

Can you not get a new one, bash the lock washer flat and so on......?
 
On looking more closely at the pic, I see i was misunderstanding how it was mounted.
but you have a solution now so forget I mentioned it!:):)
 
If its a TD5 just blank it off, its used as part of the v8 petrol EVAP system.
Wrong! The V8 EVAP system vents from the tank filler tube, then is piped to the EVAP canister in the engine bay, so not directly to the fuel tank, same on both D1 & 2

As always there’s a purpose for the parts that are fitted.
So as I have nothing better to do today, I’ve search the Forum to see what has be said before, relating to the Td5 fuel tank breathers, also it appears that there isn’t a part number allocated to the vent, which I always take with any parts catalogue ‘no number’ then the manufacturer doesn’t consider that item replaceable.

The photo of a Td5 tank in the link clearly shows the three remaining blanked corners where the additional vents are placed if the was used with petrol vehicle fitted with the emission kit.

I'd sealed the vent earlier but as said there's always a reason for certain things.
I've now made up a piece of copper piping but I'm not sure how I can bond it in to have enough strength.
On the plus side, the reason for removing the tank was to fully check the chassis and it's excellent. Plus I found that the other vent pipe was dozed and cracked so I'll replace it.

Use epoxy putty or simpler, plus as you have two dissimilar materials to join, both will need to be super clean so wire brush then a large splash or two of brake cleaner will do that.
I assume the copper pipe will be just a connector to reattach the breather pipe to the tank.
