i am rebuilding a td5 as crankshaft is shot. Is it necessary to replace every strech bolt?
I am renewing head bolts but will i get away with the original bigend and main bearing bolts?
 
If you are going to the time and trouble, not to mention expense, of replacing the crankshaft then why would you not change any critical bolts? For what they cost the peace of mind is worth every penny. Don't forget to locktite the oil pump drive sprocket bolt while you are in the there.

I have reused head bolts but it was because we were in the middle of nowhere and new bolts were not available - also it was a works motor and not my pride and joy. I'm not sure the big end and bearing bolts are stretch bolts but I may be wrong. I have reused them and had no issues. The important thing there is that the big ends are fracture fitted and you must be extremely careful not to mix them up or get them the wrong way round. They also need to be very clean before you fit them together.
 
If you are going to that trouble then as above as the guy says. Unless an unplanned failure, I'd always buy new head bolts, mains and big ends, and major suspension bolts and engine mounts. It's just not worth it and it also gives you new heads that have not been abused perhaps, or rusted for ten years perhaps in case they need undoing again...

what happened to the crank shaft did it spin a bearing or snap
 
It's pretty standard to torque a bolt to 75 % of it's elastic limit so that it leaves a margin.
But the stretch bolts are pulled into a higher point so they must be replaced to work correctly.
 
When I did mine, I renewed all bolts incl the sump bolts!
Bit OTT but they (genuine ones) were cheap as chips.
Make sure everything is spotless.
All the pics from my rebuild thread have gone, thanks to Photobucket, but they did show the re-assembly.
Follow RAVE for the procedure, incl adding a few strategic runs of RTV before the sump goes back on.

PS When you start up after your rebuild, allow the engine to gently warm up but dont allow it to sit idling for ages, there can be a risk of oil starvation.
