It is more the fact you're buying bottle of the range. When Range Rover only had one car it was simple. You when you got a RR you got the best car they made. Still crap, but the best that stable could produce. Then the RRS came along, so now you could have a proper RR or a cheaper version. Now they have the Ejit, the RRS poverty spec (the RRS poverty spec is going to be about the same price as a top spec Ejit), RRS and RR.
It muddies the waters. When you buy a motor and don't get even basic luxury features like SatNav, alloy wheels, A/C and front fogs all it does is scream "I can hardly afford to own this car, I should stick to a cheaper marquee like Kia."
That is what the Ejit and soon to be RRS PS edition are going to say about their owners. I can see why TATA are doing it. Under TATA leadership JLR is the most profitable it has ever been. Why? Because TATA recognise there are a lot of people out there who want the bling and JLR at the time were too conservative. Now it is all LED lights and shouty "LOOK AT ME! I COST A ####ING FORTUNE!"
I lost my train of thought. But I still dislike the Ejit. Reminds me too much of the X6.
