Hi guys,
Any tips on easiest way to remove turbo unit on L series ? (preferably from above only)
and preferably with minimum removal of other parts. :)

How easy is it to get to the appropriate bolts ? - am thinking of the oil return under the turbo and also the turbo to manifold bolts ?
Can the exhaust elbow unit connected to the turbine housing via 4 bolts be removed and pulled out of the way ?
Any tips appreciated. !
Cheers
Joe

it is fairly simple if you know your way around a spanner, does get painful on the knees if youre a short arse like me though as youll have to jump up on the front bumper haha.

i did one over a pit so went underneath to do the oil feed pipe and the bolts on the elbow piece. id think it would be a pain in the vagina to do from the top so if youve got a set of car ramps you would save yourself a lot of grief.

be careful not to round the bolts as the ones i did were seized solid and required some persuasion with a blow torch.

take your time and have fun!

Hi mate, yup, fine on the spanner work, however, not as nimble as I once was - no ramps either and certainly no lying on the floor... :(
One benefit is the egr is completely removed which should free up a LOT of needed space.
