Having resealed my sun roofs last week I noticed a small leak from the windscreen, so added some RTV sealant to the area on the drivers side of the windscreen at the top.

In todays heavy rain, I see it is leaking in the middle, or possibly the passenger side, maybe (probably) both :)

It looks like I will need to remove the top finisher rubber. Has anybody done this before, and successfully got it back in? If so any tips?

My plan is to take it off, and seal the entire top of the screen with RTV and then try and get the rubber back in.

I had seen that mentioned before somewhere.

Does that work without taking the rubber off then? or do I still need to take it off and just use it instead of the RTV?

So has anybody used Capt. Tolleys then, and how successful was it.

From what they say on the site it looks like all you need to do is squirt it along the top of the rubber and let it creep in. Sounds easy, but is it as good / simple as that?

Capt. Tolleys arrived yesterday. I pulled back the rubber slightly at the top and poured som in along the entire length of the screen. It suggested a few applications, so will do it again today and then we can find out if it's done the trick.

That stuff is good, i have used it before but on my disco i actually used unibond roof and gutter sealant piped in along the back of the top seal, worked a treat. The seal is fitted at the same time as the screen so can not be removed and refitted on its own

Well put some on behind the rubber. Next day did the same and it just sat there rather than disappear so I think it has worked. Just need to wait for some heavy rain to test it!

Thanks for the suggestion, it was a lot easier than taking the rubber off would have been :)

So after applying several more doses if the magical cure I find that on the last heavy rain we only had a very minor leak from the screen. I.e the head lining was a little damp instead of dripping wet.

So I think we are getting there! Another does or two needed I guess to complete the cure :)
