Any handy hints on how to remove one of the top tailgate closure catches on a Range Rover Classic as despite much WD40-ing I think this one has had it and I want to replace it with a working and nice n springy one from my rusty junk tailgate. Only the flat head screws securing them won't budge with a screwdriver and I don't want to go any further or will round the screw head. I guess with 25 years of English rain, salt and assorted crud they're entitled to be seized but does anyone know a trick of the trade to get these catches off please?

You could try drilling the head of the screw off, then get a pair of grips an undo the remaining part of the screw.

Get the biggest screwdriver your can find, then pump your arms up to 60 PSI....... AND GIVE IT LALDY

or..... Get a loan of an impact driver :)

Thanks for the replies, kind of guessing this is beyond my limited capabilities so will cart both tailgates around to my local garage and see if they can remove the little blighters!
