Hi everybody. I've been doing a bit of research into tow bars for my 2006 Disco-3 TDV6. I've examined the back of the vehicle and it has the usual removable plastic cover, two electrical sockets, and the rectangular aperture for fitting a removable bar. Unfortunately the bar was not with the vehicle when I bought it, big empty space in boot compartment!

During the research I read about a bunch of people whose removable tow bars came off while towing, trailers and horseboxes all over the road and other horror stories.

The only use I will have for it is to attach a Thule 3-bike carrier, and Land Rover

Really appreciate if anyone can give me some comfort that they've used this type of tow bar without any problem? The Thule original is about £100 and obviously would be a lot easier.

Thanks in advance.

I used mine many times to pull a 2000kg twin axle caravan, and the caravan was always with us at the end of each journey :D

The push in towbars can wear in the slot allowing them to slip about in the hole. We have the heavier duty version on ours as this also has bars that hold it on the chassis so it can't wobble and wear the slot but we tow 3.5 tonne regularly

Thanks for the replies guys, as I said a bike rack with my bike and the two kids' bikes isn't going to be too much of a challenge. One going on e-bay split new LR part £140 so I'm off...

Cheers
