301TDI

New Member
I`m a newbie here and somewhat a newbie to the Discovery.

I bought a (very) well maintained 1995 300TDI (van conversion, it`s cheaper to run in The Netherlands, taxes are much lower) a few weeks ago.

I`m looking to change some things, replace some things etcetera (I'll get to the other items later ;-) ).

One thing is the central locking, it is working now, but without remote.

Can I add a remote to the system? When yes, would that be something 'original Land Rover'? Where would I be able to get a unit for this? Ebay?

I've done some searching on this forum, but was not able to find anything.

Anyone?

Rgds/tnx,

Robert

This site may be able to help: Land Rover Discovery I Key Fob

I got a one-button fob for my '94 200tdi, programmed it using the supplied instructions and it works great.

tnx for the tip! The only thing is that my Disco does not have a remote fitted factory off... I want to 'retro-fit' it.

Or do you mean that your Disco also did not have a remote factory off?

The previous owner (and me to begin with) didn't know my disco had remote central locking at all. I guess the owner before him had lost it. I don't know if remote central locking was standard equipment but you might find yours has the ECU for it - have a look in your fusebox under the steering wheel, look for a box with a sticker on it saying something like 418MHz or 433MHz. If you can't find it, they might have moved it in your model but I'm not sure where else it might be. I suppose it's also possible they didn't bother putting remotes in the commercials.

I will have a look later... tnx for the tips!

It was a passenger carrier, it was converted to a van only one year ago.

Hmm, nothing to be found in the obvious places.... Is there somewhere else I can look to find this unit?

If you follow that link I posted before, the remotekey site explains how to find it - looks like yours is probably on the passenger side and a pain in the ass compared to mine!!
