Hi , Is there anyone out there who has bought a R/R P38 with lpg and not had any problems with it except to replace the normal wear and tear items ? Just thought I would ask as I am still undecided wether to take the plunge !

Not had a P38 on Gas, but my Classic was great for the 3.5 years I had it till someone nicked it and trashed it......

Currently on my second LPG converted P38, I have bought both unconverted had them converted in my ownership.

First was bought with 44k on it and converted sold it to my dad and is currently on 86k and has no issues apart from normal servicing and the airbags and steering damper being replaced.

Current one was bought with 104k and have done about 7k with it converted and it is still fine, had to replace the blend motors but not had any issues with it being converted.

had my 4.0 p38 nearly a year now, lpg was ok-ish in beginning other than theres a switch on dash with four green lights on which apparently should have gone out one by one as the tank went down but didn't so had to guess really.
Over the year ive had 2 lambda sensors and fuel pump replaced, the maf wiring 'blew' whilst on a journey running lpg but cant say what the cause was.
Just changed engine temp sensor and air filter - £22 the two from Tim Fry's local landy indie (definitely no affiliation) but was surprised how cheap and in stock they were.
Temp sensor was because it came up on fault reader as my rangey failed mot on emissions only. Decided now to get the lpg serviced and running properly and will re do the emissions test running lpg only tomorrow hopefully, tho fault reader threw up the camshaft sensor was amiss - as Saint v8 pointed out to me this is nearly £200 so will try best to give this a swerve for now or maybe try a 2nd hand one.
In process of getting lead and software from datatek to reset suspension, have to sort hevac as the book is up on display, but other than this am happy to keep it until May at least until a new arrival comes to the family and we need a 7 seater. Despite everything i would say go for it :)

Had my 4.6 p38 for nearly 3 years now,and so far the lpg has worked fine :D
And its the single point conversion.
I would say spend a bit more and buy a p38 with no current problems, than buy a fixer upper.
Its easier to maintain a good one, than spend hours chasing faults ;)

Fitted LPG to my 1998 4.6 and have never looked back. Runs as cheap as a diesel but with the proper noise and power! Put bigger exhaust system on at same time and uprated induction system.

my 4.6 has been on lpg for the last 6 years with no issues 75000 miles later.( prinz multipoint system.) go for it , but make sure you get a top quality system that has been properly fitted.

Like most things (including my wife), if fitted and serviced properly will be trouble free. But lpg won't need Jimmy Choo shoes and Boden dresses.

so the best thing regarding the lpg system would be to buy one with a good history of services being done or buy one without and get a good system installed . What about other reliability problems like the air suspension ?

air suspension problems can easily be resolved these days if you get them. and fairly cheaply in most cases. its what makes the p38 such a comfortable car to drive

Mind you his brain is shot

and his car is a bit poorly at the moment as well

:D

Common opinion is that on the V8s, LPG isn't a good idea due to the engine running hotter and more likely to suffer a slipped liner, etc. Not sure how true this actually is though?
