Hi to one and all, does anyone know if the metal relays behind the lighting switch panel on a ex-military series three 24 v olt ffr are all the same ?, two are marked as 6RA, the other just has numbers, they all look simular,I know the one on the right 6RA is no longer used and was the infra-red relay, the one close to the light switch also 6RA, has very thick mostly brown wire onto it, the one on the left i think is the switcing relay, it does not state 6ra, only some numbers. The upshot is that i had no horn or indicators, ichanged the left one with a new 6 Ra, and changed the indicator stalk, i now have the horn, o yes missus !!, and indicators but, the left only works on the front not back and the dash tell tale light only comes on for one flash, the right however flashes the tell tale, nad works front plus back but also opertates the n/s /r as well !!!!, all flash at the correct speed, taking the bulb out on the n/s r and it still works fine on the o/s, the hazard still works all 4 as it should , wow what a lot of woffle, any thoughts ?, might it be the new 6ra relay is not quite the right one for the switching relay ? Help im nearly there.

the IR relay is a normally closed relay and the aux relay is normal open both 4 tab W1,W2 Coil connections C1 & C2 input and output connections both 6RA the third realay is a change over relay I believe

Normally open means the contact points inside the relay are "normally open when the coil is at rest" would be switched off until power is applied to the relay coil - switching it on.
Normally closed is the opposite.

Think of it like a push button. If you push the button you will close the contacts on a normally open switch, if it was a normally closed switch, then pushing the button would dis-connect the contacts, finally, if it was a change-over switch then pushing the button would open the normally closed contacts and close the normally open contacts.
