Yeah I was thinking the same tbh but they have held up a few overgrown green lanes and pay and play days!
 
First time in a while posting up on here with some much needed maintenance.
started off checking over the valve gaps and adjusting to 0.20mm and replacing the rocker gasket

Also cleaned up the intercooler flushed it out with petrol and used a hose to wash out the fins which were clogged with mud

Also found a boost leak due to a split inlet manifold/ exhaust manifold gasket so that had to be replaced

Did a few other jobs like do an oil and filter change, fix the drivers seat as the support had broken causing the seat to sag so fixed that with a length of paracord and cleaned out the intake manifold by burning out the carbon and oil with a propane roofers torch which cleaned it up nice, Later this week I'll be doing the timing belt just for a piece of mind. Feels good to be working on it again have decided to sell my BMW and get a Defender 110 for a road trip to Austria next year hahah
 
Not much changed since last post other than the new plans for the disco back in October I bought a cheap trayback rollcage so I'm pretty sure you can see where this is going....
Not sure when as saving for my road trip to Worthersee in May but hopefully soon!

Not much has happened with this other than hooning it about in the snow for a bit and the rear brake spitting out another pad...
 
Where did you get the welding done? Have some to do, want to learn but not sure I’m brave enough! I recognise the beast with the freelander body, my headlights come from a chap very near you!
 
Personally, I'd keep it looking like a disco, but I can understand the off-road advantages of a tray back :)
After nearly stuffing the corners of the roof in an having 4 blokes hanging off one corner to stop my alpine light getting stoves in, I can also well appreciate the advantages of the trayback, but the practicality of the full body suit me down to the ground.

I'm not too bothered a trayback will suit me as its going to be a full time off roader now as I have my Discovery 2 as a daily driver haha
 
Just a quick update the disco now has a permanent place to reside rather than being parked on a busy road me and a few mates have all gone into a workshop to work on projects so I should have regular updates, only update I have at the moment is that I accidentally smashed the rear sunroof glass was using the roof as a ladder and the screwdriver I was using slipped out my hand straight on to it, so the sunroof unit is now removed along with the headlining. OH and a new rear passenger brake caliper which has not sorted my no brakes issue so I think I'm going to have to bleed the other three or somethings seriously wrong.
 
The point of no return happened today finally got the back cut off! only down side was I accidentally cut through the rear brake line but other than that all went pretty well just edges to tidy up and then start making the enclosure for behind the seats then get the cage fitted and a few brackets made up for the fuel tank and a winch tray.

Got the rear of the chassis cut off today and the drivers bucket seat mounted, just need to get the passenger side mounted then start welding it back together haha

So here she is almost done (on the rear at least), so I've made the back piece out of the rear door and sheet metal I'm not overly happy with the result but for my first attempt at metalwork since school I'm not going to complain. The cage is now welded on ready for the rear radiator / light bar / fuel tank / battery to be mounted, and the rear winch tray has been welded on but I will most probably add some bolts just because I don't trust my welding yet o_O. Just got the front wing kit (from RAC Parts) to be fitted along with moving the winch tray back about 6" I hope

Bet that was fun, but I bet it will be a bit more challenging in the mud an pizzing rain :)
 
I haven't updated this in a while but I've been back at it in the workshop doing slight upgrades to the suspension setup and I finally have a rear winch that needs a rebuild.

Still have this absolute beast but might be up for sale soon as could have a new project tomorrow
