level should be checked with the engine running, once the pump has stopped.

Yes indeed, should be checked after pump stops and topped up to Max line. It will be well over Max line after being stood a while but will go back to it after pump runs. Max line after car has been stood say overnight, before car is started and pump has run is low fluid to all intents and purposes.

Hi All
2001 P38 4.6 V8 auto
I got home yesterday from a run and heard a regular knocking noise from engine bay, I turned the engine off and it stopped, turned on the ignition without running the engine and it started again. It appears to be coming from the sperical ball area for the brake system. However cannot feel the knocking which sounds loud enough to feel. Just before it happened a I got a low brake fluid warning, checked all ok. Advise would be welcome. Thanks Les

Thank you all for help, I have found the problem it is I hope just the Battery Backup Sounder. The attached links to Chivo Garage with a proplem solver on YouTube. I do hope this is helpfull to other members.

So, the BBUS sucks brake fluid out of the reservoir through the wiring then?
Good to know. I will keep my eagle-eye on it from now on.

Not looked on the Rangie but on the Vauxhall ones you can break in and the rechargeable batteries inside can be replaced. You used to be able to get them from Maplin. They're like the ones that used to go in R/C cars.
