i bought a rangie 4.6 vogue at the weekend off a forum member and the aircon aint working the seller told me the system just needs a regas, where is the cheapest place to get this done, i heard on the radio that kwik fit do it for £45 is this a good price or is there better ?

im in scotland but have the usual budget, kwik fit national tryes etc in this area. do small independant garages do it cheaper usually ?
 
Have you got any Refridgerator repair men around you. They can usually do it for cheap...or try mobile aircon firms. I used to pay 40 - 50 to get it gassed.... least it wont leak out now with that new condensor.
 
Theres a label on the front under the bonnet telling you the amount and type of gas.

hmm unsure about refridgerator repair men but ill see if there are any mobile firms i never thought of that, cheers ill let you know how i get on.

a teeny wee bit :D

the drive home used most of my petrol at 21mpg mostly cruisin at 70, its fantastic to drive i love it.

i won a 'oxford blue' wing on ebay £60 delivered so can swap that over soon , i hope its easy lol.

no problems with it so far, touch wood :D
 
Where are you in Scotland, I use a guy who does this for a living he is mobile and lives near Helensburgh.
I think your system needs more than just a re - gas, why did it empty in the first place, I had a tiny leak in one of the pipes only visible under UV light.
I've also sent you a PM with the guy's details.

It emptied cause the condensor was changed....then the gearbox was changed so it never got regassed;););)

There is dye in the system so leaks are easier to spot:p

i know little about aircon systems so ill take your word for it but there aint no leaks anyway i have sent a message to the mobile place that bigeeee has mentioned in his pm as they cover glasgow and i work in that area.
 
Kwik fit do a re-gas de-gas pressure test all in one, and put pag oil in the system at the same time,for about £70 something, and if it dosn't wok they give you your ££ back (bet they wont though!!) and they guarantee it until it brakes down!! lol

DON'T use a refrigerating place ever (unless they use pag oil) you need pag oil in the system, or it will be fubar in no time

cheers for the info, id rather not pay £70 if i can help it, hopefully the regas will do the trick ;)
 
"air con scotland forum car" if you type a string like that in google it will come up with good forum results usually. you can replace scotland with your town or city.

well done with the car and i hope all goes well! the wings are bolt on i believe so ot shouldnt be too much hassle!
