hiya
you know we were discussing about amber lights well i spoke to a traffic officer,
i know i didnt have to do this but need to put my hands up and apologise and say sorry
you were absolutily correct
he advised me on the following and as u seem to know alot of regs can i run something past u please
right, he said
im allowed to have a fixed amber lightbar on the roof only and can only be used whilst i have a car attatched, once detatched they must be turned off, can be used to warn other road users if an accident is in front of me etc,
front and rear flashing amber etc are not allowed, and the lightbar etc must be no lower than 1.2m from the ground.
they must be CE approved and have the correct lighting timings etc
but u were spot on about no fixed flashing lights front and rear allowed unless the vehicle is on the approved lighting legistation list but volunteers can use a lightbar as per situations , apart from the hazards which arnt covered under this rule
he also warned me about alot of blue glass and certain blue bulbs are also illegal on cars, so when i fit spots and fog lights will just get clear glass ones to avoid getting pulled etc
he also said some people fit fixed non flashing blue lights on there wipers which as they move are also illegal
can only use hazard lights whilst stationary
lastly sorry mate and just needed to at least apologise to you
