Hi gents .
Glad to be back in a disco after short break.
i have just got a discovery td5 manual and on driving back up the road with it , the red transmition warning light started to flicker on and off , the handbook says it is the transmition temperature any idea on how to sort ???

many thanks

I presume that yours is an automatic,in which case I would check the condition and levels of the transmission fluid.
Easy stuff first.

there's an intermittent short in the autobox oil temperature sensor's circuit, part of the wiring is there but inactive for the manual cars... do'nt bother with it as it's not relevant for your car then you can chase the fault yourself or find a skilled electrician who know to read the diagrams and find it...or you can cut the proper wire from the instrument pack's plug

Hi, I have an auto and mine flickers depending on the weather conditions. All fluids checked and fine.
