hi ,
i think its probably about time to put some coolant in my 2000 4ltr p38 , i have had conflicting suggestions as to wether i should use the red or the blue and how many ltrs i should put in.

any advice will be much appreciated.

just ask in halfrauds for antifreeze that is suitable for alloy engines, you will know its right because it's bastard expensive:mad:

last time i bought red , it was cheapest to buy volkswagens own , from the vw or audi dealers .

was ages ago though .....

Bluecol used to be the standard in the old Classics and I have always used it, even in my P38,4.6 without any problems. The V8's are all ally blocks and as long as the 50/50 mix is up to strength and soft or better still de-ionised water is used I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be o.k. The Wife's Vectra is a V6 with an ally engine and I use it in that also.
All the manufacturers reccomend their own brand but as far as I know they do not manufacture their own anti-freeze or motor oil. As long as it meets the spec. there is no reason why any brand should not be used as long as it is from a reputable manufacturer.
