Would appreciate some recommendation for a winch please. I have fitted a winch bumper and my daughter has offered to buy the winch for my birthday :D:D

Specification

Not too expensive (although she is not short of cash :D) I would feel guilty
Not to big or heavy, I don't want to tow trucks with it
Decent quality
Able to pull my Defender 90 if I get stuck
Must not be complicated to operate
I would like it to be remote control, I really don't want to stand near it

Any ideas

Second hand husky ew8 on eBay can be had for 200. Won't beat that considering they're over a grand new and they're tough as nails

Super winch make the husky, far better getting a top of the line secondhand winch than buying a midrange one new for more money IMO

:p:p

This is not a tyre thread. And dont tell me to do a search, the answers are far too technical.

I want the complete dummies guide to winch buying :D:D:D

Sue that was so I could keep track of your thread in my favorites list, and keep a eye out for well, misguided talk you into something you don't need ;)

If I were you, I would speak to David Bowyer at Goodwinch. His winches are very highly rated and he often discounts the VAT if you collect from one of the many shows that he attends.

I suspect that he will recommend the Goodwinch TDS-9.5c.

His website is a bit of a mess but don't let that put you off as I'm sure David will happily talk through your requirements etc before you make a decision.

Goodwinch Winches & Parts, Electric Winches and Winch Bumpers, UK – Goodwinch.com

He also runs training courses, if that's of any interest to you.

+1 I'm going to collect a goldfish 9.5 next week and yes David is a smashing bloke , been in the winch business since Noah pulled the ark up on the beach :D
Ring him or sue in the office at least they'll give you good advice whether you buy from them or not!
